It’s no secret that I’ve struggled with my mental health over the years, from challenges caused by dyslexia to anxiety and depression. I’ve always felt slightly out of step with the world around me.
Well, yesterday, I finally got an official answer to many of the questions I’ve asked about myself. It turns out I have ADHD—blended inattentive and impulsive.
In the next week or so, I’ll be starting a new medication to help with my focus. I’m feeling nervous, excited, and a little sad all at once. I’m worried it might take away a part of what makes me me. However, the potential benefits for both me and my family far outweigh that concern at this stage in my life.
If you ever feel out of sync with the world around you and it’s causing you difficulties, there may be a reason. It’s worth getting it checked—just in case there’s a way to find some kind of help.
It’s not about fixing things; it’s about supporting you in achieving what you want by lowering some of the barriers your brain may be putting up.
For those asking, I used ADHD 360 via the NHS right to choose system. It’s set to change soon, so get in now.
A massive thank you to Laura Marczewski for being the most supportive wife I could hope for – and for now being 3 for 3 in her Neurospicy predictions in our family ❤️
